Parts of East Austin are fantastically near Downtown Austin and Lady Bird Lake. Others are right across I35 from the University of Texas at Austin.
Further north, the Meuller (pronounced Miller) Development is an example of modern master planning. When Austin’s airport changed locations to where it is today, people from the city, communities and non-profits alike got together to design what this new neighborhood would look like. So far, it seems to be a huge success! Neighborhoods on the north end of East Austin, including Meuller, keep their easy access to I35 and also gain proximity to 290.

One of my favorite East Austin activities is the East Austin Studio Tour, or E.A.S.T. Artists who live on the East Side can opt in to open up their homes and/or studios to show off their art (and studio). It occurs in the fall and is a fun way to explore the East Side and local Austin creativity.
