Texas State law requires that Realtors provide the Information about Brokerage Services (“IABS”) to prospective clients. In other words, Realtors must show it to prospective buyers, sellers, tenants and landlords – just about anyone who calls a Realtor for real estate information.
While written in a way that can be difficult to digest, it’s important to understand the principles of the IABS before entering into a real estate arrangement. It outlines who represents you in a transaction. If you’re buying direction from a developer and you do not have representation, no one in the transaction is necessarily looking after your interests.
